Dango M1 Maverick Wallet - Slim EDC CNC Machined Long Term Review

I originally wrote this post in July of 2021, and I’ve been carrying the Dango M1 wallet every day since I bought it. I was not affiliated with Dango Products and I was NOT given this wallet or any of their other products for free. I purchased the wallet at full retail price directly from Dango and personally carry it every day as my go-to wallet. All of the images are the property of Dango Products. All links are affiliated with other brands, including Amazon. As an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualified purchases.

I was derping around the internet the other day, (as one does) and I stumbled across the Instagram account for Dango Products. After picking my jaw up off the floor, I couldn’t resist ordering something. Specifically, I bought the Dango M1 Maverick Rail Wallet in satin silver aluminum. If you’re wondering if the Dango M1 Maverick wallet is right for you, and if it’s worth the price tag, this article is exactly what you’re looking for.

When it comes to wallets, there are about a million options out there in the wild these days. Tons of great brands, unique styles, different materials, and more. A wallet is a way of carrying the essentials, as well as showing off whatever personal style you have. Some guys hate wallets and would rather carry a Zip-Loc bag full of their cards (talking about you, Camp), while other guys have a wallet for every day of the week, plus even more. If you’re in the first category, Dango wallets probably aren’t for you. If you’re in the latter, or basically anywhere in between, keep reading.

Dango M1 Maverick Wallets Are Made In The USA

Dango Products is a US-based company that was founded in 2015. Their main product lines are CNC machined aluminum wallets, pens, and other EDC (Everyday Carry) gear. A 100% metal wallet doesn’t exactly sound like the most comfortable thing to sit on, but trust me, they are awesome. The profile of the Dango M1 Maverick wallet is slim enough that it easily fits in your front pocket, or in my case, the left leg pocket of my favorite KÜHL pants.

The Dango M1 Maverick wallet is essentially a double-sided card wallet that has some very cool and unique features. First, the back of the M1 Maverick is fully RFID protected from card sniffers and holds up to five cards. This is accomplished by covering the cards with a metal plate and rubber strap that also does a great job holding cash. That plate is also removable and customizable with full carbon fiber (yes, please!), and other colors. The front of the wallet is where the real magic happens though, and the main reason I personally bought one. Besides how awesome it looks, obviously.

As you can see, the removable CNC machined rails create a perfectly sized space for up to four cards. This space is specifically designed to allow RFID badges and cards to function normally without removing them from the wallet. That is especially helpful for high-security jobs that require ID badges to be worn at all times. You can easily scan RFID badges to enter buildings, get through security checkpoints, etc. The wallet also has four different slots machined into the sides and bottom for lanyards or whatever creative mounting ideas you may have.

The Dango M1 Maverick Wallet Is Not Perfect

I only have one legitimate complaint about the M1 Maverick wallet, and I only became aware of the issue after doing a shake test. The rails are maybe half a millimeter larger than the actual cards, which is probably by design. I four cards in the railed section. Two of those cards I keep in the rails are metal so if I shake the wallet or fidget with the top card in the rails, the cards make a fairly loud clicking sound.

That sound is especially loud in my case, because of the two metal cards moving around and hitting the metal rails of the wallet. Thankfully though, the annoying sound only happens if I shake the wallet or fidget with it. When it’s actually in my pocket, I haven’t ever heard any annoying clicking noises or anything like that. If I were to run or do some other super ninja moves, the M1 Maverick may make some noise.

You can bend the rails in ever so slightly to hold the cards a little tighter if you prefer total silence.

In addition to the already awesome features, Dango also makes optional accessories for the M1 series for specific applications. If you like having things clipped to your pockets rather than jingling around with whatever other junk you carry in your pockets, Dango has a beautiful solution for you. They also make specific solutions for police badges that can integrate perfectly with the M1 Maverick for a lanyard application as well as belt clipped if that’s more your speed.

The CNC work on Dango wallets is amazing, and probably the biggest contributing factor to the $109 price tag. That price isn’t cheap, but neither is the quality you get for it. Is the Dango M1 Maverick rail wallet worth the price? I personally think so, but you have to be your own judge.
